Facilitation

Maya is an experienced and confident facilitator, working inclusively across a variety of settings.

Through training in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, gaining First Class Honours, Maya quickly built her practice co-delivering a residency in a SEND school in Cornwall, assisting on Saturday Youth Theatre at RCSSD and completing her professional placement at Jacksons Lane, supporting on their Silver Quality Mark, youth programmes and project management of Haringey Youth Arts Festival. Fascinated by the energetic and inclusive practice shown by Haringey Shed at the festival, Maya began her journey into inclusive arts, volunteering with the company and subsequently working as a 1:1 staff member.

Maya then became Lead Facilitator with Haringey Shed and Unique Community from 2019 - 2023 where she lead and supported workshops across their core and outreach programmes. Projects include Children’s Theatre/Younger Youth Theatre (ages 7-11), Youth Theatre (ages 11-16), Big Noise Choir (choir for ages 7+), Under One Roof (young company for ages 16+), Backstage Crew (ages 8-19, exploring design and writing), Homes of Hope (an intergenerational project for local children and adults from Woodland Grove Care Home), Let’s Connect (an intergenerational song writing project for children from local primary schools with adults living with dementia), multi-sensory workshops at TreeHouse School and Ambitious College (Autism specialist provision) and a summer project at Alexandra Palace. 

In 2021, she was the Lead Facilitator and Cover Director for Brent Youth Theatre for the large promenade site-specific performance, Wemba’s Dream, in partnership with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Wembley Park, The Yellow and Mahogany Carnival Arts. In the following year, she directed Amber House, the Younger Youth Theatre show for Brent Youth Theatre, performed at WAC Arts. 

In 2023, Maya was awarded two Young Leader awards from the Jack Petchey Foundation for her work at Haringey Shed and Unique Community. 

Maya is currently Volunteer and Training Manager at Angel Shed, running their award-winning volunteer programme, supporting and training over 90 volunteers annually in inclusive facilitation practice with young people, managing 1:1 staff and delivering Inclusivity Training nationally to schools, charities, theatres and arts organisations. Maya also facilitates with Angel Shed, supporting their outreach programmes in Youth Clubs, PMLD specialist provisions and local schools.

Maya is young person centred, she believes in creating inclusive and high-quality experiences for everyone.
